Official residence of the Dalai Lama is a salubrious place in the state Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala is a hilly town nestled in the cedar forest at the peaks of Himalaya. This devotional city enchants millions to visit here for picturesque views and Tibetan monasteries. There are numbers of trekking trails here including peaks covered with snow. Dharamshala is home to Tibetan government in exile as well. Countless Buddhist monks visit here to pay their homage to Lord Buddha.

Namgyal Monastery

Namgyal Monastery is currently located in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, India. It is the personal monastery of the 14th Dalai Lama. Another name for this temple-complex is Namgyal Tantric College. This monastery’s key role is to assist with rituals involving the Dalai Lama of Tibet.

Triund Hill

A favorite trekking place, Triund is one of the star attractions of Dharamshala. Triund is an enchanting place that has snow clad mountains on one side and the picturesque Kangra valley on the other. The place can be reached by a fairly easy trek of about 5 kilometers that takes one through lovely forests of Oak and Rhododendron. Tranquil Triund promises an experience that will appeal to all your senses.

Kangra Fort

If history fascinates you, you must head to the ruins of Kangra Fort. The structure dates back to the 4th century BC and the stone ruins tell a fascinating story. The Kangra fort is one of the oldest in India and was once the residence of the royal family of Kangra, the Katoch dynasty. The Katoch dynasty’s origins can be traced to the Trigarta Kingdom which is mentioned in the Mahabharata. The Trigarta kings had taken part in the Kurukshetra war on the side of the Kauravas and were killed by Arjuna.

Kangra Valley

Kangra Valley is situated in the Western Himalayas. Administratively, it predominantly lies in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is a popular tourist destination, with the peak season around March and April. The Kangri dialect is spoken there.

Dalai Lama Temple Complex

The serene sounds of silence soothe your senses as you enter the Dalai Lama Temple complex near McLeodganj. This is the main temple complex and has a sublime architectural beauty. Beautiful paintings grace the walls and the temple houses the statues of Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) and Shakyamuni. The complex is an ideal and a peaceful place to sit and meditate in.
