Called upon by different names such as Silicon Valley, Pensioner’s Paradise & Bangalore, Bengaluru is the capital city of Karnataka. Cosmopolitan Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) is one of India’s most progressive and developed cities, it is the second fastest growing metropolis of India and also the fourth highest GDP contributor after cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, blessed with a benevolent climate and a burgeoning drinking, dining and shopping scene.
There are many notable institutions located in the city such as Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Indian Institute of Management (IIMB), National Aeronautics Laboratory (NAL) and National Law School.
In 2012, Bengaluru was declared ‘The most liveable city in India’ according to a country-wide survey. The rise of start-up culture in Bengaluru is also drawing entrepreneurs there. The city reflects a blend of old and new – some parts with historical monuments are still kept intact, and in others, you can see the high-rise corporate complexes. Lined with long stretches of trees and parks, famous heritage buildings, busy markets and newly constructed buildings, Bengaluru seems to have a bit of everything for everyone.
A unique feature of the city-Indian Cartoon Gallery, the one and only space created in the country to exhibit these highly educative, creative, innovative, thoughtful and socially relevant works of art is located in Bengaluru. The city also has some wonderful tourist hotspots like the Bangalore Palace, Lal Bagh, Bannerghatta National Park, Innovative Film City and Cubbon Park.
